milestones

Roadcrete (Pty) Ltd was established in 1987 as a civil engineering contractor dealing primarily in township infrastructure and related bulk services. Its head office is situated in Boksburg and all operations are managed from these premises.

Together, the directors of Roadcrete Africa boast a considerable 122 years of experience in the field of civil engineering and it is this expertise that successfully navigated the company through the volatile economic environment of the 1990’s. In the face of challenging trading conditions, Roadcrete Africa built a strong brand identity as well as a sound reputation as being a low cost, high quality producer, within the road infrastructure arena.

With the upswing in the economy in the 2000’s Roadcrete Africa has been well positioned to capitalise on the resultant infrastructure spend and has shown consistent year-on-year growth over the past five years.

In August 2006 Roadcrete (Pty) Ltd joined hands with Sangena Investments to form Roadcrete Africa (Pty) Ltd. The merge gave rise to a highly successful partnership that would mark Roadcrete Africa’s transformation into a black economic empowered construction company.

In September 2008 Roadcrete Africa became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Basil Read Group of companies.

future, vision and values

Roadcrete Africa has the flexibility and mobility to operate nationally and intends to become more widely recognised as a national contractor. In 2007 Roadcrete Africa extended its footprint and was awarded its first two national projects.

After broadening the participation base in the company by selling a sizable percentage of ownership to a BEE Consortium in 2006, Roadcrete Africa endeavours to continue to build an organization that provides equitable career opportunities to all employee groupings.
